While his music is based in Americana, he borrows elements from rock, rhythm and blues, and even electronica, often piecing sounds together in the lo-fi cut-and-paste fashion of artists like Tom Waits. His albums have featured a wide variety of collaborators, such as Victoria Williams, Morcheeba, Aimee Mann, Barenaked Ladies, and Joe Henry. He is signed to David Byrne's Luaka Bop label and appeared in the BBC documentary, Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus, which looks at musicians inspired by the culture of the American South.

Corrie Shelley is a singer-songwriter from Lancashire, UK

Corrie is making up for lost time having only recently rediscovered the joy of songwriting after a 30 year break, and in the space of three years has released 3 albums.

As a folk singer/songwriter, her songs take us on a journey of random thoughts, fuelled by copious cups of sweet 'builders' tea, which transport us to 17th century scenes of Lords and Peasant girls, 18th century pirate ships ‘The Whydah' which sank 300 yrs ago, into the 19th century covering wars, mining tragedies and affairs of the heart.

"Each Song appears like a movie in my head of a story that I must tell, whether it be sad, factual or happy"

Her alluring vocals and storytelling paint vivid pictures in your mind… “As good a piece of folk rock as you’ll find anywhere, reminiscent of Prelude and Pentangle.” Liz Franklin - EdenFM & Blues and Roots Radio

"For me the standout track on The Leaf and The Cane album is the accapella track "Jonny", a song about a boy who, together with father and older brothers die in a mining disaster, a child sent down the mines because they family needed his small coins to pay the rent and avoid eviction. If this song fails to move you, you must be the sort of person that votes for bedroom tax, takes taxpayers money to restore their own home and actively calls for the repeal of the health and safety "red tape" that stops this sort of thing from happening.

If that makes this sound a bit like a depressing album, it's not, there are also songs of uplifting spirit, triumph over adversity. "The Leaf And The Cane" has been well put together, there is a lot of variety in its ten songs and Corrie Shelley is showing herself to be quite the performer." Neil King - Fatea Magazine

" The leaf and the cane is one of the stand out albums of 2017, Corrie's unique style gives a superbly traditional feel to the songs she writes." - Brian Player - Acoustic Cafe - Why Valley Radio & Blues and Roots Radio

"Corrie Shelley confirms that she is a talented singer song-writer delivering assured and eminently listenable music - Forget Me Not is a classy album from a talented singer-songwriter with an alluring voice which deserves to be heard widely. - Narrative and storytelling are potent elements in Corrie's writing, and I detect underlying themes of personal strength and resilience running through many of the lyrics." - David Pratt - Fatea Magazine

The Burning Hell is the songwriting project of Mathias Kom, particularly known for their literate?often literary?and humorous lyrics.

History

The Burning Hell is the songwriting project of Mathias Kom. During the first few years of the band's existence band members fluctuated from tour to tour and album to album and the band's instrumentation was often determined by what instruments Kom's friends played. However, the regular touring and recording lineup from 2011 to 2016 was consistently Kom, Ariel Sharratt (clarinet), Darren Browne (guitar), Nick Ferrio (bass) and Jake Nicoll (drums). Since 2013 Kom and Sharratt have embarked on occasional duo tours and since 2017 the band has toured as a trio with Sharratt on drums/bass clarinet and Browne on bass/bouzouki.

Known for their strong live show and hyper-literate lyrics, The Burning Hell have toured extensively in Europe and Canada and have been featured at many festivals including Glastonbury Festival, End of the Road Festival, Dawson City Music Festival, Calgary Folk Music Festival, Vancouver Folk Music Festival and the Hillside Festival. Kom's songs frequently take the form of fantastic narratives (The Stranger, Barbarians, Nonfiction, Grave Situation Pt. 1). Other subject matter has included the minutiae of the social gladhanding of historical conferences (Berlin Conference, Bretton Woods); failure and amateurism (Give Up, Amateur Rappers, Professional Rappers); and nostalgia and pop music (Nostalgia, Men Without Hats, Grown-Ups).

In 2011, Kom and Sharratt co-founded the Lawnya Vawnya festival in St. John's, Newfoundland, an independent music and arts festival. Kom completed a PhD in ethnomusicology at Memorial University in Newfoundland where he studied the political economy of DIY music.

In 2012 the band played 10 shows between the Netherlands and Slovenia in twenty-four hours. The band claims the unofficial world record for playing the most shows in different countries in 24 hours.

In 2014, the tribute album My Name Is Mathias, featuring Canadian and international musicians performing the band's songs, was released, featuring covers by artists such as John K. Samson, Mike O'Neill (musician), Mike Feuerstack, Dan Mangan, and Susie Asado. Kom donates all proceeds from the sale of this album to the Kingston Humane Society.

American singer, songwriter, guitarist, performing artist, dancer, photographer, filmmaker. Born Gustavo 'Tav' Falco into a family with roots in southern Italy. Grew up in the backwoods of rural Arkansas.

After working a diversity of jobs as a railroad 'brakeman', icehouse worker, gas station attendant & flat tire fixer, he moved from Arkansas to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1973. He became a member of Big Dixie, an alternative performance group and with Televista, an alternative film/video group in Memphis. He also worked with the noted Memphis photographer William J. Eggleston. In the process of making films & videos with blues musicians from Mississippi & Tennessee, Falco began to absorb rudimentary blues guitar playing and singing.

On stage in Memphis Falco became associated with and under the influence of an array of Memphis musicians: Charlie Feathers, James Luther Dickinson, Sam the Sham, Roland Janes, Sleepy John Estes, Van Zula Hunt, Mabon 'Teenie' Hodges, Roland Robinson & others. In his first solo performance between the acts of Jim Dickinson's band, Mudboy & the Neutrons, at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, Falco sang the "Bourgeois Blues" and simultaneously destroyed an electric guitar with a chainsaw live on stage.

In 1979 Falco founded his band the PANTHER BURNS :
From this cacophonic beginning Falco began to emerge as an underground cult artist with the formation of his band 'PANTHER BURNS', named after a legendary plantation in the Mississippi delta. Alex Chilton (guitar) was a founding band member along with Jim Dickinson (guitar), Eric Hill (keyboard), & Ross Johnson (drums). The band has had a number of revolving members that now include Michael Lo (bass), Peter Dark (guitar), & Tall Cash (drums).
He also used to write songs under the name of Eugene Baffle.

During his early collaboration with Alex Chilton, Tav Falco obtained an unapproachable cult-like status, a position he since has been able to maintain with a repertoire and music that is a surprising mix of conversion of obscure rock'n'roll, tangos, sambas, mambos, ballads, and obscure pop standards. The PANTHER BURNS first record came out in 1980 on the band's own label FRENZI in the USA. Since then their records have been released by Rough Trade in London, New Rose in Paris, Marilyn and Munster in Spain, In The Red in Los Angeles, & Au GoGo in Melbourne, Australia.

Even if his own style was different, Tav Falco spent some time in 1980/1981 in New York, part of the No Wave movement, playing and making friends with such bands as DNA, Walter Stedding, James White, united around the concept of musical freedom and experimentation.

Because of its raw, unbridled, lurking sound the band has been called a ‘ballroom gothic juntabilly garage band’. Still, Falco has received critical success in publications such as 'New York Times', 'Village Voice', 'Chicago Sun-Times', 'New Orleans Times-Picayune', 'Andy Warhol's Interview', etc. Even though Falco cultivates the image of a suave singer, his new records show his rough style lurking underneath polished productions. Singer and guitarist Tav Falco has always been very interested in making movies (see videos section). He has also appeared as an actor in movie bio of Jerry Lee Lewis, "Great Balls of Fire", as a motorcycle gang leader in the road movie, "Highway 61", and as a criminal mastermind in the forthcoming, "Wayne County Rambling".
His last music film/video clip "Love's Last Warning" was made with the American underground film pioneer, Kenneth Anger.

His last studio recordings Panther Phobia were realesed in the late-2000, some 20 years after his first recordings.
2001 saw him played several concerts in Europe and USA, often 2 hours long, unanimously acclaimed to be great & brilliant, enthusiastic & full of energy.
2002 saw a wide autumn tour and also a winter tour (Austria, Germany, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Danemark, Belgium, France, Italy, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, Switzerland)
An album has been recorded, yet to be released.
Since 2003 we had several tours and movie events, including Sun.3rd April 2005 for "It Came From Memphis festival" at the Barbican, London.

Bill Baird is an American musician and creative technologist. He was one of the founding members of the band SOUND TEAM and current leader of Sunset (formerly {{{Sunset}}}). His own material pursues experimental approaches to folk / pop / ambient. Much of his work can be found on his bandcamp page, here.

Baird has been writing and playing songs for a while. The early songs were "lo-fi" and contained numerous recording experiments. Lots of backwards flange pedal. These tapes were given to friends and sold to foes. "Sounds great, Bill," they would smile out the words through gritted teeth.

Besides engaging in 4track experiments, he also began "jamming" with his dad, who passed along a love of old blues (Robert Johnson, Hound Dog Taylor, Mance Lipscomb, Leadbelly, etc) folk (Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Townes), and 60's pop ( Beatles, Motown). Some of their jams even made it onto Bill's tapes, notably a cover of Elvis' classic "Little Sister."

Baird's early shows explored a "performance art" style; he and his "bandmates" found every way possible to make the audience feel uncomfortable. Theatre of the absurd, some call it.

"What is art?" they might ask themselves after a particularly riveting Bill Baird performance. Or not. Most people said, "Why is that guy screaming a Madonna song and banging a coat hanger on his lapsteel guitar?" Bill was banned from a number of clubs in the Austin area during this early "performance art" phase.

He had already put out several tapes and cd-rs when he met Matt Oliver and they started SOUND TEAM together. For the next few years, Bill concentrated mostly on ST material. For the first couple of years, Bill took many of the vocal duties on material explored old-folk, silly hip-hop, droning electronics, and psychedelic pop. Several cd-rs later, ST's sound had become much louder and heavier, drawing largely on 60's and 70's German music and deep, heavy drumming; this is the ST most of the world know.

Himself a pretty quiet singer, Baird relinquished singing duties; he remained a songwriter in the band. As his vocal duties diminished in ST, Bill started writing and recording on his own again.

So Baird compiled some song-y, folk-y, strum-y, pop-y songs he'd recorded and called the album {{{SUNSET}}}. He simultaneously compiled a whole bunch of instrumental ambient soundscapes and called that album SILENCE ! You can find those releases for sale, down below.

Baird also made a DVD, "Candlelit Television Eyes," the 1st in a genre he calls the "DIY DVD" — take the same DIY spirit of self-released tapes, cd-rs and zines and apply that to our new, YouTubed, media-overloaded age. It's like a zine, except you can watch it. Same basic idea. You can find links to purchase volume 1 and 2 down below.

Anyhow, back to our "bio." After releasing {{{SUNSET}}} and SILENCE !, Baird toured the country, playing to small crowds all over this great land. He played taquerias, open mike nights, parking lots, Taco Cabana, sheet metal factories, historic statue plazas, you name it.

Upon returning to Austin, Baird assembled a group called {{{SUNSET}}}. Bill originally intended on naming his stage act after his latest release. Like if Michael Jackson had called his band "THRILLER." You get the picture.

But this proved an unsatisfying approach, and a search was undertaken for a new name. In the end, Baird decided to conflate the names of his two recent releases and keep his own name at the top. This conflation represented his hope for the group : a combination of the ambience, experimentation and "New music" of SILENCE with the spontaneity and folk songwriting of {{{SUNSET}}}. This delicate synthesis is still a work in progress, but their shows have been interesting and even occasionally engaging. Sometimes they march through the streets like a parade. Sometimes random crowd members join the show. They played a show outside the Clear Channel World Headquarters, which was pretty strange.

In December 2008 Baird wrote a song for a Christmas compilation called 'An Indiecater Christmas' which was put out by Indiecater Records.

By mixing oriental instruments such as the darbuka, electric saz, and spoons with electronics and modern sounds, BaBa ZuLa creates a sound all their own called istanbul psychedelia.

" Cormac O Caoimh is a singer-songwriter and classical guitarist from Cork, Ireland. He is also a former member of ‘The Citadels’, who received critical acclaim on various releases over the last 10 years. His debut solo cd "Stark a Spark" was released in 2007 and received glowing reviews. For his new album "A New Season For Love" he re-united with ex-bandmates Art O Laoire and Eoghan Regan, who also were in The Citadels.

O Caoimh has picked up some well-known admirers along the way including Ron Sexsmith and Tom Robinson (BBC) and has supported fellow luminaries; Damien Rice (in the Paradiso, Amsterdam), Declan O Rourke, Josh Rouse, Mark Geary, Nick Kelly, Miles Hunt and Damien Dempsey to name but a few. He also ventured further afield playing headlining gigs and slots in Edinburgh, London, Amsterdam and New York. His solo live performances vary between fast and frenetic indie-pop acoustic guitar playing, slower tunes heavily influenced by his classical guitar playing background and jazz influenced folk music tunes.

An admirable songsmith, each track from his forthcoming album 'A New Season For Love' contains a catchiness and accessibility at their core that outweigh any stylistic definition. Though he may be likened to the hypnotic Nick Drake, or the inverse Elliot Smith; it is his slow and gradual soft low-key vocal delivery that inspires repeat listens. A New Season For Love is the new single and it is released March 16th. "

Ralegh Long is a Singer-Songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer whose music conveys an "almost mystical longing" [The Guardian]. Growing up in the English countryside, his music draws on a childhood spent wandering fields and streams and writing endless hours of music. A gift of a 1970's Sony reel-to-reel tape recorder from a neighbour sparked his fascination with recording, and helped shape his independent approach to his music.

His debut album Hoverance (2015) drew comparisons to Nick Drake, and acclaim from Lauren Laverne, Guy Garvey, and The Guardian for its "twilit ambience" and "spooky pastoralism". His second album, "Upwards of Summer" (2017) won the HMUK Emerging Artist Award and support from Elton John.

In 2018 Long released four standalone singles, "Am I Home", "Super Blue Moon" "Where You Are" and "Heaven, Almost", amassing over 4 Million streams to date, and featuring on playlists such as New Music Friday and The Most Beautiful Songs in the World.
